Cover Letter / Introduction
Dear Colleagues,
RE: Midlothian Voluntary Action Resource Guide
MVA is the umbrella organisation for the voluntary sector in Midlothian. We are set up to serve the needs of, and represent the local voluntary sector, to support and assist organisations in coming together for common purposes, and to enable local people to gain access to decision making processes which affect their personal lives and community.
In 2002 MVA compiled an directory of key organisations that served the Midlothian area. This resource guide is aimed at helping volunteers, carers, organisations and the public alike to search for groups which exists in Midlothian, that may be of benefit to them but are not aware of. This in turn also raises the profile of the lesser-known groups and raises the awareness of the local sector. The project was supported by a working group made up of local voluntary and statutary groups.
If you would like your organisation to be included in the online MVA Resource Guide, by filling out the enclosed questionnaire and returning it to us via mail , or alternatively filling out the questionnaire online at our website.
The guide was produced in paper copy and distributed throughout the Midlothian Community. It was also put up on the MVA website located at http://www.mvacvs.org.uk. Due to lack of resources, we have been unable to update the paper guide and now only operate the online version.
If there are any specific details that you wish to keep confidential, or if there is certain information that you wish to be kept off the website version of the guide, please mark clearly on the questionnaire. Alternatively, get in touch with us directly and we will discuss the issues further.
We appreciate that this may be difficult and that descriptions may not exactly represent your organisation but with limited space and page numbers we have tried to find descriptions which broadly covers the local sector.
This is an important project for the Midlothian area, your inclusion in the Resource Guide would only help contribute to its usefulness for the people of Midlothian. If you have any enquiries please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
Thank you for your help and time.
Yours sincerely,
Midlothian Voluntary Action
