MVA Resource Guide:
A Community Resource for Midlothian
MVA
Midlothian Voluntary Action is the umbrella organisation for the voluntary sector in Midlothian. We are set up to serve the needs of, and represent the local voluntary sector, to support and assist organisations in coming together for common purposes, and to enable local people to gain access to decision making processes which affect their personal lives and community.
Background
Being a carer is not straightforward, and many Midlothian residents do not know where to turn in their hour of greatest need. There are numerous voluntary groups and statutory organisations helping to provide information and services for a wide variety of needs of Midlothian residents. However, for many residents and even organisations supplying specific services, it is very difficult to appreciate other appropriate resources that may be so significant to the needs of particular individuals.
MVA recognised the need for an information guide to meet these requirements. A steering group for the project was formed from various voluntary and statutory organisation. Many of these individuals have put in a great deal of time and energy in the creation of this resource guide.
The Guide
The MVA Resource Guide is a directory of key organisations (primary in community care issues) which serves Midlothian. This guide is aimed at helping voluntary and statutory organisations together with carers and Midlothian residents. The guide also helps to raise the profile of the lesser-known groups.
This online MVA Resource Guide will be updated as and when the information comes in to us. Due to a lack of funding, our hardcopy version will not be updated at the current moment. However, if you wish to obtain a copy, simply get in touch with MVA at:

For those with a slower connection, MVA also have the Guide available on CD-Rom, which may prove to be more helpful.
The CD-Rom is available for Microsoft Windows operated systems. The minimum requirement needed is any version of Microsoft Windows LATER than Windows 3.1 (i.e. Windows 95, 98, XP etc); and which has Internet Explorer, version 4.0 or later installed.
Unfortunately the CD-Rom will not work with Macintosh operating systems at this time. However, if you have Virtual PC running with your Mac, then the CD should work just fine.
